James Jorge

Bio

Multi-instrumentalist, JamesJorge, has pursued music since childhood.  Growing up in a musical family, his youth was spent absorbing the rhythms and melodies of Brazil, where he was raised for a few years before returning to the States.  A dual citizen of Bolivia, James has always regarded his hispanic heritage as a key role in his ability to feel and conceptualize rhythm and groove.  His instrumental journey first began with saxophone, before moving into bass guitar, and then eventually adding upright bass and guitar.  Alongside his twin brother, JamesJorge spent most of his childhood learning bass by ear while he and his brother transcribed their favorite music. In his school days, he could be found in drumlines, orchestras, choirs and rock groups.  Shortly after, he found himself a bassist in demand in Santa Fe, NM performing everything from R&B, funk, Latin/Salsa, to Jazz and World Music.  Performances include playing the Santa Fe Opera House opening for the Reverend Al Greene, as well as sharing bills with other popular acts such as Dark Star Orchestra, The Parliament Funkadelics, and Everclear.  Nowadays, he can be found performing with local music act in the Hudson Valley and New York City.  His talent does not end at music.  JamesJorge is also an accomplished dog trainer, horse wrangler, and advertising executive.
